Blackness, queerness, and the mission of God
OTN TRUSTEE Augustine Tanner-Ihm has written a powerful article for the Student Christian Movement magazine.
He writes about how, like every marginalized group, Black communities and LGBTQIA+ communities have safe spaces which can foster safety, belonging, and sometimes family.
Yet despite similar rejection and discrimination, these two communities can fiercely be opposed to each other. When you add the Christian community in with the Black community and the Queer community it then becomes a
muddy water of complication and complex identity.
He goes on to say that
The rainbow cannot be a sign of joy and peace if it doesn’t recognize the missing colours. It ceases to be a rainbow.
